Job Overview

Reporting to the Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association (MPCCA) Board, the Director of Licensed Childcare acts as an integral member of the MPCCA Childcare team. The Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day and big picture operations of MPCCA’s two childcare centers through the conscientious application of MPCCA policies, procedures and standards, working under the guidance of our strategic plan, with input from the Board.

Essential Functions

  • Directly assists the centre Managers with the planning, organisation and direction of the childcare centres, including standard setting and delegation and execution of duties.
  • Oversees Recruitment and Retention Strategy and plan – Supports centre managers in recruitment & retention and onboarding of staff, staff development, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Leads on ensuring that all relevant legislative requirements are met with compliance at all times.
  • Oversees budgets and spending, and reports budget actuals and all other budget items to the Board on a monthly basis
  • Promotes open communication and teamwork with all staff through personal example
  • Establishes and maintains community connections through attending meetings and committees, networking with community agencies.
  • Attending and preparing reports for the Childcare Advisory Committee (CCAC) meeting and Board meting on a monthly basis in the evenings.
  • Resolves parent complaints quickly and offers excellence in customer service
  • Accurately performs administrative tasks in a timely manner
  • Takes part in quarterly Occupational Health and Safety reviews at both centres
  • Attends staff meetings and supervisor meetings for both locations
  • Attends and leads leadership meetings biweekly
  • Undertakes Management performance reviews
  • Performs other related assignments and administration as required.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Minimum three years experience in the Early Childhood Education field
  • Minimum two years senior management experience
  • High standard of professionalism and customer service
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen and respond appropriately, ability to communicate with children, families, staff, and Board.
  • Excellent organization skills to prioritize workload in order to achieve results in a constantly changing environment
  • Able to maintain the smooth operation of the daycare sites through the ability to function as part of a cohesive team
  • Experience managing multiple programs/multiple sites
  • Experience with human resource management, recruitment, interviewing and hiring

Additional Qualifications:

  • ECE/ECEA license preferred
  • First Aid & Criminal Record Check

History

MPCCA opened its first licensed preschool program in 1978, and has been providing licensed school age care for children five through twelve years for over fifteen years. Our Preschool and Out of School Care programs are located at Our House Child Care Centre at 123 West 16th Avenue & 3 Corners Child Care Centre at #1 Kingsway on the 3rd Floor.
