At Our House we follow an emergent, play-based curriculum, and are guided by the BC Early Learning Framework (BC ELF). Through our practice, we aim to create an environment that represents all of our children, to facilitate learning opportunities that promote awe & wonder, and to embrace children’s natural curiosity about the world around them.

Updated Withdrawal Policy: 

Please note that our withdrawal policy has been recently updated and is as follows:

A minimum of one month’s written notice is required to withdraw your child from any program. This notice must be sent to the Childcare Administrator and received by the last calendar day of the month prior to the month you wish to withdraw your child.

EXAMPLES:

  1. You wish to withdraw from a class for the start of the program year in September – the deadline for written notice is June 30, 2024 by 9:00am
  2. You wish to withdraw from any given month between October – March of our program year – the deadline to withdraw is the last calendar day of the month prior to when you want to withdraw. Ex: You wish to withdraw from the program in January, written notice must be given by November 30th 9:00am.

Please note that Withdrawals are not permitted for the months of May & June. If you wish for April to be your last month of care, notice must be received by March 31 9:00am.

Our House Preschool & the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative:

Effective September 2023, Our House Preschool has been participating in the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative. Due to the application process, we are awaiting confirmation of our fees for our 2024-2025 program year. The fees listed above are subject to change and currently reflect the fee reduction we are hoping to be approved for. Once confirmation of approval is received, families will be contacted with adjusted rates if necessary.

Forms Return:

Please ensure that your contact and payment information on your www.vanrec.ca account are up to date to ensure you receive the documents and that your payment plan is appropriated to the credit card you would like to use for your monthly payments. If paying via cheque, contact the Childcare Administrator.

Registration Dates and How to Register
In order to register we require:
  • Credit Card for pre-authorized monthly payments
  • June Security Deposit  (1 month fee)
  • $50 non-refundable registration fee

City of Vancouver – Parks Board Account:

If you do not have an on-line account already you will need to set this up at least 48 hours before registration day.  Please visit www.vanrec.ca to create an account.  Please make yourself comfortable with the on-line registration process.

  • Is the $50 non-refundable registration fee required?
    • Yes. When registering online there is a separate activity number for this fee.  Please register for your desired class, then go back and register separately for this fee.
  • Can I register my child in more than one class?
    • Initial registration is for one class only.
    • If there are spaces available after initial registration, we will offer the opportunity to register in a second class.
    • Registration in more than one class is at the discretion of MPCCA.
    • Please note, due to childcare licensing, your child cannot attend more than 4 hours per day.
  • Age Restrictions
  • Children must meet the correct age requirements listed. If your child does not meet the specific age requirement, we will withdraw your child from the program and issue a refund.

3 Year old Classes – must be born in 2020

4 Year old Classes – must be born in 2019

Our Qualified Educators

We are proud to have excellent Early Childhood Educators (ECE/IT/SN) who are certified by the BC government, meet Provincial Child Care Licensing Regulation and maintain a valid First Aid Certificate.

Qualified substitute staff are called in when teachers are away for reasons of illness or vacation

Child to staff rations are 10:1 as determined by Child Care Licensing.

Funding

Affordable Child Care Benefit

We encourage families who may benefit from financial support to apply for the Provincial Affordable Childcare Benefit. Factors such as income, family size and type of care will be considered when determining each individual’s funding allowance. MPCCA Childcare Bursary Fund

Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association is thrilled to be able to offer a Bursary Fund to those that require financial support to attend childcare, or financial help to those whose child may need that bit of extra support to enable them to thrive in our care. Inclusion Policy

Vision: Every child and family is unique and should have access to an inclusive and respectful child care experience.

Policy: MPCCA child care programs embrace diversity and celebrate environments of acceptance, respect, understanding and inclusion. We commit to learn, understand and appreciate each person’s unique attributes, abilities and cultural history to ensure that each child is recognized, reflected and valued in our programs. Our educators support the unique abilities of each child to ensure they reach their highest potential. MPCCA works with BC Centre for Ability and other community partners to enhance our ability to support children of all abilities through training and consultation.

Withdrawal Policy

A minimum of one month’s written notice is required to withdraw your child from any program, this notice must be sent to our Administrator and received by the first of the month prior to the month you wish to withdraw your child. Your deposit will not be refunded if the required notice is not given.

EXAMPLES:

  1. You wish to withdraw from the program for September – the deadline for written notice is JULY 1ST.
  2. You wish for your last day of care to be mid-month – the deadline for written notice is still the 1st of the month prior. (Ex: you want to withdraw for October 15, withdrawal notice must be provided by September 1st)

If you are in any doubt as to what your notice period should be, please contact our Administrator (Vera.Meza@vancouver.ca) as soon as possible to confirm, and avoid a financial penalty. Should we not receive adequate notice as per our policy, your deposit will be held to cover the last month of care. 

Please Note: Withdrawals for the start of the program (September) will not be accepted after July 1st. Withdrawals will not be accepted after April 1st of the program year.
