Offering Enriching Programs for 2, 3 and 4 year olds
At Our House we follow an emergent, play-based curriculum, and are guided by the BC Early Learning Framework (BC ELF). Through our practice, we aim to create an environment that represents all of our children, to facilitate learning opportunities that promote awe & wonder, and to embrace children’s natural curiosity about the world around them.
Learning can be messy, and the learning journey doesn’t often happen in a straight line – we embrace this – and collaborate with the children, families and other team members to make sense of the world together in the ways that work for our children at the time.
Our House thrives on utilizing the BC Early Learning Framework. “By supporting the creation of rich, joyful early childhood spaces where children & adult’s ideas and miracles come together. Knowledge is co-constructed about learning and living in ways that are local, inclusive, ethical and democratic.” – BC Early Learning Framework 2019.

IMPORTANT Class Change in Progress: Please note that this year we are in the process of transitioning our 9am start 3hr classes to 6hr classes. We hope this will be effective for September, but timelines may be later as they are based on inspections, occupancy permits and licensing. Once this is approved these classes (in 2nd table below) will convert immediately to 6hr classes from 8am -2pm. Please see details below.
What is happening? Why are these classes advertised as 3hours?
We are in process of applying for a childcare licensed change so we can offer longer hours of care. Under our current license these classes are 3hrs (activity numbers 562721 and 562725). When the new license is approved (could be anytime between Sept 2025 and June 2026), we have to make that change immediately to 6 hours of care. Anyone registered in the 9am – 12pm classes above would be affected by increased hours of care and different fees.
6hr Class Fees and Fee Reduction: We cannot apply for fee reduction until we have a license. This could take few months for approval. Families would be responsible for unreduced fees until this was approved, and we could apply the fee reduction. Fee reduction should be backdated to start of program but is not guaranteed.
Our House Preschool & the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative:
Effective September 2023, Our House Preschool has been participating in the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative. The fees listed are the parent fees after the CCFRI has been applied.
