Our Licensed Out of School Care Program offers morning and afternoon care for children 5-12 years old, from September through June. Children are dropped off and picked up at Simon Fraser Elementary School. Care is provided based on the school’s schedule and includes pick up for early dismissal days and full day care for non-instructional days.
Our inclusive school-age program offers a relaxed and safe environment where children are given the opportunity to learn, grow and be challenged alongside their peers. We believe that each child is unique, with a different perspective, needs and aspirations. We understand that the support and guidance provided to one particular child may not work for another, therefore individual approaches are implemented were possible.
Through warm and supportive relationships, our qualified staff help children to:
Like our other programs, we follow an emergent, play based curriculum. Through our practice, we aim to create an environment that represents all of our students, to facilitate learning opportunities that promote awe & wonder, and to embrace children and young people’s natural curiosity about the world around them.
Learning can be messy, and the learning journey doesn’t often happen in a straight line – we embrace this – and collaborate with the students, families and other team members to make sense of the world together in the ways that work for our students at the time.
The Kindergarten waitlist for children born in 2018 and attending Simon Fraser Elementary School in 2022-2023 school year opens on March 1st.
Our waitlist registration for children grades 1 – 7 is ongoing. Please contact Jasleen.chahal@vancouver.ca for more information.
Our qualified staff have their Responsible Adult Certificate or equivalent and a valid child care first aid certificate as per BC Child Care Licensing Regulation.
