Our House Out of School Care Program

Our Licensed Out of School Care Program offers morning and afternoon care for children 5-12 years old, from September through June. Children are dropped off and picked up at Simon Fraser Elementary School.  Care is provided based on the school’s schedule and includes pick up for early dismissal days and full day care for non-instructional days.

Our inclusive school-age program offers a relaxed and safe environment where children are given the opportunity to learn, grow and be challenged alongside their peers.  We believe that each child is unique, with a different perspective, needs and aspirations.  We understand that the support and guidance provided to one particular child may not work for another, therefore individual approaches are implemented were possible.

Stay Up To Date!

Through warm and supportive relationships, our qualified staff help children to:

  • Build positive relationships and develop empathy
  • Build self-confidence and self-awareness
  • Develop problem solving skills and resilience
  • Make healthy choices
  • Develop a sense of responsibility and build independence.

Like our other programs, we follow an emergent, play based curriculum. Through our practice, we aim to create an environment that represents all of our students, to facilitate learning opportunities that promote awe & wonder, and to embrace children and young people’s natural curiosity about the world around them.

Learning can be messy, and the learning journey doesn’t often happen in a straight line – we embrace this – and collaborate with the students, families and other team members to make sense of the world together in the ways that work for our students at the time.

Spaces for Families With Barriers:

  • MPCCA is committed to providing quality childcare for families with barriers
  • We are pleased to reserve 1 space per year (if space permits) to a family who identifies as a family with barriers. These spaces will be advertised as such.
  • A link will be posted above when a space becomes available with a set date range for you to add your child to the list for our lottery (random draw).
  • The child must fit the age range posted and you must be able to commit to the contract terms in order to qualify for this space.
  • Priority is offered to MPCCA Childcare families (families registered at Our House or 3 Corners) who may also be families with barriers.
  • Your family must fit one or more of the options detailed on the survey to be considered.
  • You will be asked to submit an application with more information/detail and supporting documents
  • Families who hit multiple marginalization’s will be prioritized for these spaces.
  • After the link is closed, we will do a random draw to determine the child who gets the space. Successful families will be contacted by the next business day.
  • We kindly ask that families who are not facing barriers do not add their children to the lottery list as you will be filtered out of the draw.
  • Families who are not facing barriers but would like to be added to our OSC waiting lists may still contact Kelly Bodkin at kelly.bodkin@vancouver.ca to be added on.

Please note that if your child does not fit the age range posted for x space, or you have answered “no” that you do not identify as a family with barriers or “no” to committing to the terms of the contract posted, your child will be removed from the lottery draw.

We value all the differences that make us individuals including race, ethnicity, culture, gender, neurodiversity, socioeconomic levels, range of abilities and physical and/or health care needs.
