We are seeking an outgoing and personable individual with a passion for working with pre-teens and youth to collaborate with a Camp Manager in implementing a summer youth leadership program for participants aged 9–14. The program offers a wide range of leadership, learning, and recreational activities (including walking trips) in a safe and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, able to engage in age-appropriate activities and conversations with participants while supporting their development of leadership skills.
Job Duties:
• Responsible for the safety, leadership and supervision of pre-teens & teens during summer youth leadership camp activities
• Help plan, organize and lead age-appropriate activities that fall within each week’s theme
• Assists with program promotion
• Responds to first aid needs and unusual incidents
• Performs basic administrative tasks such as attendance and end of summer report
• Maintain positive communication with staff, pre-teens and families
• Follow established centre procedures and protocols to ensure safety of program participants and staff, including following all City of Vancouver and MPCCA safety plans and protocols
• Build positive relationships with participants and their families
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with youth (9-14 years)
• Strong leadership and planning skills
• Ability to be flexible in adapting activities to suit individual and group dynamics
• Excellent problem-solving skills, communication and interaction skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Successful police information check
• Food Safe (Asset)
Conditions of Employment:
• A current and successful Police Information Check is required
• Valid First Aid/CPR Level C certification is required, or a willingness to obtain it before the program start date. (Applicants must attach a copy of their First Aid to their application)
• As this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and be available to work for the full duration of the program dates.
• Preference will be given to candidates pursuing a career in recreation, education, social services, or the social sciences.
Regular Shifts: Monday to Friday 9am-4:30pm. Camp runs from 10:00am-3:30pm for 8 weeks; between 30-35hrs/week
Citywide Day camp Training: June 2026 (Date TBD – mandatory must be available)
MPCC In-service Training: June 6th, 2026, 2pm-5pm
Wage: 20.78 + 4% in lieu of benefits
