ORANGE SHIRT DAY September 30 This year the Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association hosted an Orange Shirt Day design contest. We invited Indigenous artists of all ages and abilities to submit designs featuring Every Child Matters. This year’s selected design was created by Métis artist Michael Edward Nardachioni from the White Wolf Clan. An art teacher at the Carnegie Learning Centre, he describes his artwork, titled An Indigenous History, as “A hand has a feather made out like silhouettes of birds, ravens/doves, indicating souls at peace and freedom of children.” Purchase an orange shirt today at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre located at 1 Kingsway, Vancouver, B.C. Shirts are $25 each, additional donations are appreciated. All proceeds go towards funding Indigenous Programs and the Food security Program at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre Mount Pleasant Community Centre is situated on the unceded, ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations
