PETITION TO SUPPORT & FUND MOUNT PLEASANT OUTDOOR POOL Mount Pleasant Outdoor Pool was demolished in 2009 with a Commitment to replace it, and was included in the Vancouver Park Board’s Aquatic Strategy in 2019, after a 3 year consultation, but it is still not funded! With the increasingly hot and dry summers outdoor pools are needed more than ever. Vancouver is severely deficient in outdoor pools compared to other municipalities in Canada. Currently the only full-sized outdoor pools are on the north side on waterfronts not easily accessible to the majority of residents. The centre and south of the city bear most of the deficit in outdoor pools. This is not equitable! We are disappointed that Mount Pleasant’s outdoor pool did not receive any funding in the 2027-2030 Capital Plan. The current position of the board seems to be that community outdoor swimming pools are not a priority! Mount Pleasant Community Centre will hold an all candidates debate on September 23, 2026 prior to the Municipal Election. Please attend and ask candidates about their positions and policies on a Mount Pleasant pool.
